My unit spent a week training on a mock FOB CSH (Forward Operating Base Combat Surgical Hospital) which involved seeing a large number of "casualties" as well as undergoing training under Incoming Direct Fire and Mass casualty drills. It made for long days (and nights) but the training was a very important part of preparring us for our upcoming mission. All my medics stepped up to the task and perfomed at top levels.  I am very proud to be part of such a high energy, well-trained group of soldiers.

Upon completion of the FOB training we were granted a 4 day pass.  My days were filled with sight seeing such places as Pike Place, the original Starbucks, Theo's Chocolate Factory, the Crab Pot and many other places that served wonderful civilian food! I was also able to take in a few museums, visit the Troll Under the Bridge and have a nice lunch with my Sensei, Bernie Lau.
And even though I had to sleep in the barracks, it was wonderful to get away from the base during the day.  And the usual rainy Seattle weather took a break and gave us 4 bright sunny days!
We are now back for a few more days of training before we head on to the next phase of my journey.  So, until my next post I will be busy stuffy 2 duffle bags and one ruck sack with enough gear to last me a year!
Until then, take care and stay well!
